Changing a company name

BUREAU USERS ONLY

It is possible to amend the name of a company within the Bureau version of Thesaurus Accounts as follows:

1) First ensure the company you wish to amend the name of is open.

2) Next, go to 'Help > About'

3) Press Ctrl+Z on your keyboard

This will now give the option to change the company name.

The program is actually setting up a second company in the new desired name and duplicating all the information into this new company.

When the user goes to open the company after performing this function they will see two companies in the company listing, one with the old name and one with the new name.

If the user attempts to open the old company they will be told that it cannot be opened and is already in use.

To delete the old company from the listing, the user must access the folder where the company files are stored.  To find this location, exit Thesaurus Accounts, then double click on the Thesaurus Accounts icon on the Desktop - “Specify the Location of Files” will indicate where the company data files reside.

Go to this location and delete the following two files:

“Old Company Name.zip”
 and
“Old Company Name.CPA”

For example, if wanting to delete the company called ABC Ltd then the following two files need to be deleted:

“ABC Ltd.zip”
 and
“ABC Ltd.CPA”
